Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan

Who We Are

Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan is a community based, non profit provider of hospice services.   In 2016, we recognize our 35th anniversary providing compassionate, professional end of life care

In that time, we have learned that life is about supporting people wherever they are in the journey. We know that attending to the end of life is just as important as nurturing the beginning.  The staff & volunteers of Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan affirm living.

What We Do

Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan is a licensed health care provider delivering medical support to clients in need of hospice services.  Our services are delivered where our clients live albeit in their homes, at care facilities or in our own Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.  A team of professionals work at supporting the wishes of the client, educating and supporting the caregivers who are with the client on their final journey.

Volunteers are critical to our mission.  They serve in a wide variety of ways, such as:

Hospice Client Care:  providing companionship, respite for caregivers and any number of practical supports such as errands, helping with housekeeping and life story recording.

Adult Day Services:  This program serves adults with cognitive or physical limitations who might benefit from spending their days in a highly supportive, accepting and engaging environment.  Volunteers are key to making sure that a day in Adult Day Services is a good day!

Journeys Grief  Support for Children:  Children grieve in unique ways.  Professional grief counselors and volunteers bring families who are dealing with loss together on Tuesday evening for group interaction intended to help children process their feelings and heal.  Volunteers lead the age specific groups in pre-planned activities.

Rose Arbor and Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence:  Sometimes, families simply need the support of a professional facility when their loved one is nearing death.  Rose Arbor was developed with the sole purpose of providing a peaceful, dignified residence when being cared for at home is not an option.  It is staffed 24 hours each day by medical professionals. Volunteers are needed for a host of assignments including hosting, preparing breakfast and helping with laundry.

In addition, we seek volunteers for our Pet Therapy Program,  licensed hair dressers who can provide hair cuts for our hospice clients, registered nurses to help with TB testing, notaries to help with paperwork filing, and foreign language translators.  Administrative assignments are available for volunteers who desire a job in support of the agency that does not involve client contact.
